Looking at the Z370 line-up from ASUS quite a few things have change compared to the previous generation and one of those things is the “ROG STRIX” series. There is now a complete lineup of STRIX Gaming motherboards and one of those is the ROG STRIX Z370-I Gaming, which is a mini-ITX board that features a new design and RGB lighting.
The ROG STRIX Z370-I Gaming is an ITX form-factor motherboard. As with all other STRIX Gaming series motherboards this mini-ITX model comes with the AURA feature as well, allowing you to change the illumination of the board from within Windows. In the case of expansion slots there is one full-sized and metal-strengthened PCIe slot and two M.2 slots. Since there is not much space available on mini-ITX motherboards to begin with ASUS created a PCH heatsink that doubles as a cooler for the first M.2 drive. The second drive can be mounted in the slot on the back-side of the PCB. Having a quick look at the SATA connectors we find four of them supporting the SATA-III standard.
- Designed exclusively for 8th generation Intel Core processors to maximize connectivity and speed with Dual M.2, USB 3.1, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Gigabit LAN and Intel Optane Memory compatibility
- Innovative M.2 Double-Decker Heatsink shrouds the main M.2 slot and provides shared cooling for both the M.2 and PCH
- 5-Way Optimization with Auto-Tuning and FanXpert 4 automatically tailors overclocking profiles to your unique build for maximum OC performance and dynamic system cooling
- Unmatched Personalization with ASUS exclusive AURA Sync RGB lighting and addressable RGB header
- Patent-pending Safe Slot features an injection molding process that integrates metal framing for a stronger, firmly anchored PCIe slot built for heavyweight GPUs
This Strix Z370-I motherboard has four USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports as well as DisplayPort and HDMI outputs, which utilize your processor's integrated graphics chipset to deliver up to 4K visuals. To complete the multimedia package, ROG's SupremeFX S1220A audio processor produces clear sounds through the motherboard's six audio jacks. Additionally, reliable Internet access can be accomplished by using the motherboard's Gigabit Ethernet port.
This motherboard supports 8th Generation Intel Core processors in the LGA1151 package. With integrated graphics, memory, and PCI Express controllers, it supports onboard graphics output with dedicated chipsets, dual-channel (4-DIMM) DDR4 memory, and 16 PCI Express 3.0/2.0 lanes.
The rear IO board has three USB 3.1 10 Gbps Type-A ports, a Type-C port, and four USB 2.0 Type-A ports. Headers on the board offer another USB 3.1 10Gbps port and four USB 2.0 ports. The small ITX form factor isn’t known for being rich in the way of fan headers, and on this board there are two regular 4-pin fan headers, a single header dedicated to AIO CPU coolers. There is also a single thermal sensor header.
ROG Strix's SupremeFX audio technology delivers a 113dB signal-to-noise ratio on the line-in connection for quality recording and 120dB on the line-out connection for clear sound. There's also a low-dropout regulator for clean power delivery to the SupremeFX S1220A codec. To provide high gain with low distortion, Texas Instruments RC4580 and OPA1688 op-amps are on board. Moreover, an audio cover and line shielding help preserve the audio signal.
“With aesthetics inspired by the sharpest blades and premium colorways to match any mood, the all-new ROG Strix Z370 motherboards are ready to do battle — and infused with all the essential ROG engineering needed to push performance as far as you dare. Ready for the latest 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processors, ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming is loaded with overclocking and cooling innovations to keep your gaming rig’s thermals in check as you turn up the clock. Factor in custom Aura RGB illumination and superior SupremeFX audio and you’ll know that ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming looks great and sounds amazing — and outperforms every expectation to dominate your game!”
