So just six months back , when the whole of the tech world was thinking that its the time for Ryzen to rise and Intel’s demise, this thought was turned upside down by intel with its all new monsterous 8th gen processors.
The Desktop processor with new Coffee lake architecture are claimed to be 40% more powerful than its predecessors, normally a new generation processor is just 15% more powerful then predecessors , so i would like to frame it as a jump into future tech. Just for fun tried to compare my current CPU (Core 2DUO) with i3 8350K and result was that i3 8350K has 673% effective speed compared to the 10 year old core 2 DUO.
The first detailed benchmarks of Intel’s Core i3-8350K Coffee Leak processor have just leaked out. The Intel Core i3-8350K will be the first Core i3 branded chip to feature a quad core design that is going to deliver faster performance in multi-tasking compared to last generation i3 chips.
Intel Core i3-8350K Quad Core Coffee Lake CPU Performance Leaked – Faster in Single Threading, Almost on par in Multi-Threading Compared To Previous Generation Flagship i7
Intel announced their 8th generation processors a few days ago. The lineup revealed that Intel’s 8th generation family will be a mixture of different architectures. These will include Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake and Cannonlake chips. So we will be looking at 14nm+, 14nm++ and 10nm chips, all within a single family.
While we got to see the performance of the flagship Core i7-8700K chip that rocks 6 cores and 12 threads, budget users would be more interested in the upcoming Core i3 processors. From the looks of it, the Core i3 series in the Coffee Lake desktop family will deliver great performance in single and multi-threading workloads. The improvements come from two things, a better process that allows for higher clock speeds, a fine tuned architecture that is built on the foundation of Kaby Lake and lastly, increase in core count.
We will get to those in a moment, but first let us go over some more details. Not only is the Core i3-8350K a quad-core processor, it is clocked fast out of the gate at 4GHz. There is no boost clock nor does it support Hyper Threading, but it does have an unlocked multiplier to make overclocking easier. It also sports 1GB of L2 cache (256KB per core) and 8MB of L3 cache, and has a manageable 65W TDP. With a decent cooler, it will be interesting to see how this thing overclocks.
- Now core i3 is a quad-core processor.
- Increased L3 cache in accordance to the number of cores.
- Increased turbo clock speed.
- Increased iGPU clock speeds by 50MHz.
- DDR4 memory support updated.
- 300 series chipset on the second revision of socket LGA 1151.
Even without overclocking, the Core i3-8350K looks to be a compelling option for budget builders and anyone else looking to get a lot of bang for their buck. Looking the leaked CPU-Z results, this spunky Core i3 part scored 503.3 points in single-threaded performance, and a more impressive 1,982 points in multi-threaded performance.
Intel’s claim of the processor being 40% more effective are seemed to be damn accurate from the benchmark results .Intel Core i3-8350K Quad Core Coffee Lake CPU performance is faster in single threading, almost on par in Multi-Threading compared to previous generation flagship i7.
